oro
gold
noun OH-roh Less Common
Origin: From Latin aurum ('gold'), the source of the chemical symbol Au.
Usage Note
Oro is masculine and uncountable as a material (un anillo de oro = 'a gold ring'). It is also used figuratively: una oportunidad de oro = 'a golden opportunity', and no es oro todo lo que reluce is the equivalent of 'all that glitters is not gold'. The color 'golden/gold' is expressed as dorado, not oro, when used as an adjective.
Examples
"El anillo es de oro puro."
Natural Translation
The ring is made of pure gold.
Literal Translation
The ring is of gold pure
