Also means
oblivion
Usage Note
Olvido names both the act of forgetting (por olvido — through forgetfulness) and the state of being forgotten (caer en el olvido — to fall into oblivion). The verb is olvidar; reflexively olvidarse de algo is the most natural construction for 'to forget something'. The phrase echar al olvido means to consign to oblivion deliberately.
Examples
"El poema cayó en el olvido."
Natural Translation
The poem fell into oblivion.
