Oficialmente marks that something is sanctioned by an authority or made public through formal channels, as in oficialmente reconocido (officially recognised). It contrasts with extraoficialmente (unofficially) or de facto. The adverb is built on oficial + -mente, the standard Spanish adverb suffix.
