Usage Note
Observado is the past participle of observar used as an adjective, meaning something that has been seen or studied (el fenómeno observado, the observed phenomenon). In scientific writing it frequently appears in passive constructions. It should not be confused with observador (m, an observer, a person who watches). Agreement with noun gender is obligatory: la tendencia observada, el resultado observado.

The observed behavior was very unusual.
