Usage Note

Multipolar describes a system with multiple centers of power or influence, contrasting with unipolar or bipolar. It is almost exclusively a term of geopolitics and international relations: un mundo multipolar = a multipolar world. The word is invariable in gender (el orden multipolar, la estructura multipolar) and takes the regular plural multipolares.
