Usage Note

Mediados is used almost exclusively in the phrase a mediados de (in the middle of, around mid-): a mediados de junio (in mid-June), a mediados del siglo XX (in the mid-20th century). It is always plural and typically masculine. It functions as a noun but is not freely used outside this fixed prepositional phrase.
