Marcado is the past participle of marcar used as an adjective meaning 'clearly defined; pronounced; noticeable'. A acento marcado is a strong or thick accent. It is stronger than notable but less literary than pronunciado. In sports, marcado also means 'marked' (a player under close defensive attention).
