Usage Note
Manguera is the standard Spanish word for a flexible pipe or hose used to carry water — manguera de jardín (garden hose) or manguera contra incendios (fire hose). It shares a Latin root (manica) with manga (sleeve), but not with the unrelated Japanese manga comics. In some Latin American countries manga alone can informally refer to a water hose, but manguera is universally understood.
Examples
"El bombero usó la manguera para apagar el fuego."
Natural Translation
The firefighter used the hose to put out the fire.
