licenciatura

bachelor's degree

noun lee-sen-syah-TOO-rah Rare

Also means

undergraduate degree programme

Usage Note

Licenciatura traditionally referred to the five-year Spanish university degree equivalent to a master's, but the Bologna Process (c. 2010) replaced it with the four-year grado. The word now survives mainly for pre-reform qualifications and in some Latin American systems that kept the old structure.
