Usage Note
Jurar means both to swear (an oath) and to swear informally (to curse). Jurar el cargo means 'to be sworn into office'. Te lo juro ('I swear to you') is the common colloquial reassurance. Note that perjurar means 'to perjure' (swear falsely), a key distinction in legal Spanish.
