Also means
to speak ironically
Usage Note
Ironizar means to use irony in speech or writing — it is often followed by sobre (ironizar sobre algo = to be ironic about something). It is more specific than bromear (to joke) because it implies a sharp, detached wit rather than warmth. The noun ironía and adjective irónico share the same root and are more frequent than the verb itself.
Examples
"El periodista ironizó sobre las declaraciones del ministro."
Natural Translation
The journalist was ironic about the minister's statements.
