Instalado is the past participle of instalar used as an adjective, describing something that has been set up or fitted (el software instalado = the installed software). It can also describe a person comfortably settled in a position or role, sometimes with a hint of complacency (está muy instalado en su puesto = he's very comfortable/entrenched in his job).
