Usage Note

Inmensidad expresses overwhelming scale and is most often applied to natural settings: la inmensidad del océano. It is an abstract feminine noun and does not require an article when used with de: una inmensidad de posibilidades ('an immensity of possibilities'). Do not confuse with enormidad, which can also mean 'an enormity' (a shocking act).
