Inmediato means immediate in time (respuesta inmediata, immediate response) and also spatially adjacent (en las inmediaciones, in the vicinity). The adverb de inmediato is the standard phrase for 'right away' in formal and written Spanish, preferred over inmediatamente in many registers.
