inexplicable
inexplicable, unexplainable
adjective een-eks-plee-KAH-bleh Rare
Usage Note
Inexplicable does not change for gender (un hecho inexplicable, una razón inexplicable). It is a near-cognate of English 'inexplicable' and safe to use in the same way. The adverb inexplicablemente ('inexplicably') follows the -mente rule. Learners sometimes misspell it by dropping the first 'i'; the prefix in- is the standard negative prefix.
Examples
"Su desaparición fue completamente inexplicable."
Natural Translation
His disappearance was completely inexplicable.
