imprevisible

unpredictable

adjective eem-preh-bee-SEE-bleh Rare

Usage Note

Imprevisible has a single form for both genders (un resultado imprevisible, una persona imprevisible) and its plural is imprevisibles. The prefix im- is the Spanish equivalent of English 'un-/in-', and previsible ('foreseeable') is the positive form. Do not confuse with imprevisto ('unforeseen event/expense'), which functions as a noun.

Examples

"El tiempo en la montaña es muy imprevisible."

Natural Translation

The weather in the mountains is very unpredictable.
