implícitamente

implicitly

adverb eem-PLEE-see-tah-MEN-teh Rare

Usage Note

Implícitamente means 'by implication, without being stated directly'. Its antonym is explícitamente. It is a formal, written-register adverb common in legal, academic, and philosophical texts. Note that implícito is an esdrújula (stress on the antepenultimate syllable), so when -mente is added the original stress on PLEE is preserved alongside the suffix stress on MEN.

Examples

"El acuerdo implícitamente reconoce el error."

Natural Translation

The agreement implicitly acknowledges the mistake.
