Usage Note

Humanista is common gender: el/la humanista. As a noun it denotes a scholar of the humanities or a follower of humanism; as an adjective (valores humanistas) it means humanistic. The Renaissance humanists are called los humanistas del Renacimiento. Do not confuse with humanitario (humanitarian), which implies charitable action.
