Usage Note

Huésped has two opposite meanings that context must resolve: it can be the person staying at a hotel or home (the guest), or the person receiving them (the host). In biology it also names the host organism of a parasite. The written accent on the first syllable is required. Common gender: el huésped / la huésped.
