Usage Note
Hoyo is a generic hole or pit in a surface — a pothole, a golf hole, or a depression in the ground. Agujero tends to mean a hole through something (a wall, fabric), while hoyo implies a hollow in a surface. In golf, hoyo en uno is a hole-in-one.
