Homólogo refers to a person or thing that corresponds to another in a different organisation, country, or system: su homólogo francés (his French counterpart). It can also be used as an adjective (órganos homólogos = homologous organs in biology). The feminine form is homóloga. It is a formal/technical term rarely used in casual speech.
