historiador

historian

noun ees-toh-ryah-DOR Less Common

Usage Note

Historiador follows the standard -dor/-dora pattern: la historiadora for a female historian. Do not confuse with histórico (historical) or historia (history/story) — the suffix -ador marks the agent (the person who does it). In academic contexts it is distinct from cronista (chronicler), which implies a more journalistic or annalistic role.

Examples

"El historiador publicó un nuevo libro."

Natural Translation

The historian published a new book.
