Usage Note
Habitado is the past participle of habitar used adjectivally. It describes a place where people live: una isla habitada (an inhabited island). Its antonym, deshabitado or inhabitado, means uninhabited. It is not used for objects or people — use ocupado for a room or seat that is taken.
