Alpino describes anything relating to high mountain environments or the Alps specifically, such as esquí alpino (alpine skiing, as opposed to esquí de fondo / cross-country). It agrees in gender (alpina) and number (alpinos/alpinas). The noun el alpinismo means mountaineering and el alpinista is a mountaineer.
