Fugitivo functions as both a noun and an adjective: el fugitivo (the fugitive) and un criminal fugitivo (a fugitive criminal). The feminine is fugitiva. It carries a stronger connotation of someone actively evading capture than prófugo, which is the more formal legal term used in arrest warrants. The verb is fugarse (to escape, to flee).
