Finalidad stresses the intended goal or end-purpose of something, making it more formal than propósito or objetivo. It commonly appears in legal and academic prose: con la finalidad de ('with the aim of') followed by an infinitive. Unlike fin, it cannot mean 'end' in the temporal sense.
