fijamente

fixedly

adverb fee-hah-MEN-teh Rare

Usage Note

Fijamente means in a fixed, steady, unblinking manner — it almost always modifies verbs of looking: mirar fijamente ('to stare'). The root adjective is fijo ('fixed', 'steady'). As a -mente adverb it follows the standard formation and retains the acute accent of the base adjective: fíja + mente.

Examples

"La miró fijamente sin decir nada."
