explícitamente

explicitly

adverb eks-PLEE-see-tah-MEN-teh Rare

Usage Note

Explícitamente contrasts with implícitamente (implicitly) and tácitamente (tacitly). It often appears in legal and contractual language to distinguish what is stated outright from what is merely inferred: el contrato lo prohíbe explícitamente (the contract explicitly prohibits it). As with all -mente adverbs, the stress accent of the base adjective (explícita) is kept.

Examples

"Nadie lo dijo explícitamente, pero todos lo sabían."

Natural Translation

Nobody said it explicitly, but everyone knew.
