Estrellar literally means 'to smash something against a surface like a star-burst'. The reflexive estrellarse is the standard verb for a vehicle crash (el coche se estrelló contra el muro). It also describes cracking an egg into a pan in some dialects (estrellar un huevo). Do not confuse with estrella (star), which is the visual metaphor behind the word.
