Escucha as a feminine noun denotes the act of listening or a surveillance wiretap (escucha telefónica, phone tap). It also appears in military/intelligence contexts (puesto de escucha, listening post). The same form escucha serves as the third-person present of escuchar, so agreement markers clarify the noun reading. Do not confuse with oyente (listener, as in a radio audience).
