Usage Note

Auricular refers to a telephone receiver (the handset piece held to the ear) as well as an earphone or earbud. In Spain it is also the standard word for headphone (often used in plural auriculares). Do not confuse with the adjective auricular meaning 'of the ear' (e.g. el conducto auricular) — context clarifies. Gender is masculine: el auricular.
