envejecido

aged

adjective en-beh-heh-SEE-doh Rare

Usage Note

Envejecido is the past participle of envejecer ('to age') used as an adjective meaning visibly aged or worn by time. It is used with estar to describe a state: está muy envejecido para su edad (he looks much older than his age). Unlike viejo ('old'), it emphasises the process and visible effects of ageing rather than simply old age itself.

Examples

"El actor aparecía muy envejecido en el rodaje."

Natural Translation

The actor looked very aged during filming.
