Enmienda is the standard legal and parliamentary term for an amendment to a law, constitution, or document. The famous phrase la enmienda a la totalidad is a Spanish parliamentary motion rejecting an entire bill. It also has the general sense of correcting an error or amending one's behaviour (enmendar la plana = to correct someone, to outdo them).
