Usage Note
Duramente is formed from dura (feminine of duro, 'hard') plus -mente. It describes actions done with severity or force: criticar duramente ('to criticise harshly'), golpear duramente ('to hit hard'). Note that duro as an adverb also exists (trabajar duro, 'to work hard'), which is more colloquial than duramente.
Examples
"El árbitro fue criticado duramente tras el partido."
Natural Translation
The referee was harshly criticised after the match.
