discretamente

discreetly; quietly

adverb dees-kreh-tah-MEN-teh Rare

Usage Note

Discretamente means acting without drawing attention, whether from politeness, caution, or tact. Like all -mente adverbs it is formed on the feminine adjective base discreta; it can precede or follow the verb it modifies. Do not confuse discreto (discreet, tactful) with distinto or the English 'discrete' (separate).

Examples

Natural Translation

She withdrew discreetly from the meeting.
