Discreto primarily means 'discreet' (keeping confidences, not drawing attention) but also describes something modest or unassuming in quality or size: una actuación discreta ('a modest performance'). It is not the same as disculpado (excused). The noun is discreción; the idiom a discreción means 'at will' or 'as much as desired'.
