Usage Note

Diferencia is used in the phrase a diferencia de ('unlike, in contrast to') and in marcar la diferencia ('to make a difference'). The verb diferenciarse means 'to differ from'. Do not confuse with diferendo (a diplomatic dispute) or the adjective diferente ('different'), which is a separate word.
