Usage Note
Difícilmente expresses that something is barely possible or would happen only with great difficulty: difícilmente lo conseguirá ('he will hardly manage it'). It is more formal than apenas and implies near-impossibility rather than small quantity. Note the double stress pattern of the -mente adverb: the base difícil keeps its accent mark when -mente is added.
