Desorientación describes either a physical loss of directional sense (not knowing where you are) or a mental/emotional confusion about what to do. It is frequently used in medical contexts — desorientación as a symptom of concussion, dementia, or intoxication — as well as in psychology to describe existential disorientation. The verb form is desorientarse (to become disoriented).
