Also means
to free up
Usage Note
Desocupar means to leave a place empty or to stop occupying something — a room, a seat, a position. Tenants desocupan a flat when they move out; a waiter asks if you can desocupar la mesa. Don't confuse with desocupado, which as an adjective can mean 'unemployed' (especially in Latin America) as well as 'vacant'.
Examples
"Hay que desocupar la habitación antes del mediodía."
Natural Translation
You have to vacate the room before noon.
