Usage Note

Degradado functions in several registers: a degraded environment (suelo degradado), a person stripped of rank or dignity, or in digital design a color gradient (un fondo degradado — a gradient background). In the graphic-design sense it is often used as a noun: el degradado azul-blanco (the blue-to-white gradient).
