Usage Note
Defensor has a feminine form defensora. In law, defensor público is the public defender. In sport it means a defensive player. Defensor del pueblo is the Spanish ombudsman (literally 'defender of the people'). The related adjective defensivo and noun defensa share the same root. Plurals are regular: defensores, defensoras.
