Debido is most commonly encountered in the fixed phrase debido a ('due to, owing to'), which is a preposition-like locution: debido a la lluvia, cancelaron el partido ('due to the rain, they cancelled the match'). As a standalone adjective it means 'proper/appropriate' (a su debido tiempo, 'in due course'). It is the past participle of deber.
