Curiosidad denotes the abstract quality of being curious (la curiosidad es la base del aprendizaje, curiosity is the basis of learning) and also a curious or unusual object or fact (una curiosidad histórica, a historical curiosity). The phrase por curiosidad (out of curiosity) is very common. The adjective curioso can mean curious (inquisitive) or strange/odd, so context matters.
