Usage Note

Concejala is the feminine form of concejal ('town councillor') and refers to a female member of a local council (ayuntamiento). Spanish officialdom increasingly uses the feminine form explicitly rather than defaulting to the masculine generic. The plural is concejalas; the mixed-gender plural is concejales.
