Usage Note

Como without an accent functions as a conjunction ('as', 'like', 'since') or an adverb of manner, while the accented cómo is the interrogative/exclamative 'how'. It can introduce a soft conditional in formal or literary registers: como no llegues, nos vamos 'if you don't arrive, we're leaving'. In comparisons it pairs with tan: tan rápido como 'as fast as'.
