Colina denotes a gentle hill, smaller and rounder than a montaña (mountain) or cerro (which in Latin America can mean the same as colina). In Spain colina and cerro are near synonyms, though cerro can be slightly steeper. Loma is another regional variant for a low ridge or hillock.
