Usage Note

Cetro is the ceremonial staff held by monarchs as a symbol of sovereign power. By extension it means supreme authority or championship in figurative use: el cetro del poder (the sceptre of power), el cetro del torneo (the championship). Note the initial c is pronounced 's' (seseo/standard): SEH-troh, not 'keh'.
