Centuria is a more formal or literary synonym for siglo when referring to a century of time; it is also the specific term for the Roman military and electoral unit of 100 men. In historical texts you will encounter both uses: durante varias centurias ('over several centuries') and la primera centuria de la legión ('the first century of the legion'). In everyday speech siglo is strongly preferred.
