Usage Note
Cebra is also used in the compound paso de cebra, the standard Spanish term for a pedestrian zebra crossing (crosswalk), which is widely understood across all Spanish-speaking countries. The word is feminine, so una cebra macho is used to specify a male zebra rather than changing the article.
